How to manipulate photos in photoshop

How I carried the edit out:

All I'd done here was move the sliders in the left, mddle and right (see photo to the right) to make certain aspects of the photo darker.

Pretty much the same as what I did with levels, I simply moved the sliders to change what the photo looks like as shown by the image of the exposure tool to the right.

The final product:
